Name: Lucy (Diabetic but in remission!)

  • Age: 5
  • Gender: female
  • Color: Brown tabby/white
  • Type: Cats, Female
  • Vacinated: yes

Lucy is a sweet but shy, 5 year old girl with special needs! Found as a pregnant stray, Lucy was brought into foster care. After raising her litter of kittens, it was clear that something just wasn’t quite right. Several tests later, it was discovered that Lucy is diabetic. She would require shots and special food twice daily to manage her sugar levels. In mid-September 2019, while figuring out what management plan she would need to stick to, poor Lucy went into Diabetic Keto Acidosis (DKA) and was literally on the brink of death! Thankfully, the veterinarians were able to save her life and give her the second chance she deserves. We got Lucy’s sugar levels under control and she is currently in diabetic remission and she is ready to find her furever family!

Lucy is a very shy and quirky girl. She will need a very patient family who can give her time to get comfortable in her new space. She likes to play with toys and sit in the bathtub on occasion. She also likes having somewhere to hide out when she’s feeling scared! She likes having her neck and back scratched, but doesn’t like having her sides touched!

She would prefer to be your one and only pet as she is not a fan of other cats or dogs, but could co-exist with them if they don’t bother her (currently co-existing with a dog and cat in foster care). She would also do best in a home with no kids or at least older children who can respect her boundaries.

As previously stated, Lucy is Lucy is in diabetic remission, so her only treatment is to maintain her diet.  Should her diabetes ever return, she would need insulin shots daily.
